The Dolphin and the Minnow: Week 2 story

Image
Once upon a time, in the deep dark sea, was a dolphin and a minnow. They weren't the greatest of friends, but they could sometimes tolerate each other because they didn't really come across each other that often. The dolphin usually had that look in his eye that he wanted no part of anything, he just wanted to be left alone. The minnow had a different idea. He wanted to annoy him until they got into a fight. "Looks like you have gained a lot of weight since the last time iv'e seen you." exclaimed the minnow. "What's your issue today? That's why i'm never interested in talking to you." said the dolphin. Comments like these continued to go on for days, even weeks, and nothing would ever happen. The minnow would continue his smack talk towards the dolphin, but the dolphin would just swim away like nobody was even talking. The minnow didn't know what else he could do that would annoy the dolphin, so he came up with a new solution. "Can

Week 2 Reading Anthology Notes

Image
The Foolish, Timid Rabbit by Ellen C. Babbitt : A sleeping rabbit awoke from a startling noise right after he asked himself "what if the world should break up!" "What then would come of me?" Little did the rabbit know that a coconut fell just behind him. But that did not stop this rabbit. He was thinking the worst possible situation. "the earth is all breaking up." He then started to quickly run away from the tree he was sleeping under because he thought the earth was breaking up. Many others rabbits were paranoid to see this rabbit going max speed, so they quickly joined with him. Along the way, the group of rabbits came across a deer and also joined them with no questions asked. Soon after a fox was called over to join to pack, along with an elephant because they didn't know what was happening. The lion was the only one left, but did not fall for the overreaction from the other animals. He went back to the place the rabbit was sleeping, and saw the

Week 2 Reading Overview

Image
Out of the two options that were offered, I chose to read Tiny Tales from the Ramayana. I chose this reading because I thought it was very cool that our own teacher wrote it. It was a no brainer that this was the one I would chose because I really enjoy more of a backstory, and like that it was a new option this semester. The first comic book that caught my attention was the Pandava Princes: Pandu's five brave sons . I thought this story was very interesting and odd that Draupadi became the wife of all five brothers. I also like when there is conflict in the story. The second book that caught my attention was the comic Ancestors of Rama: A Noble inheritance.  I thought this one was interesting because there was a curse casted upon Dilipa because he was flirting with his young bride, causing him to potentially not have many children. I also really liked the cover of the book because I love animals. While looking at the different videos, one of the first ones that stood out was Who

Time Strategies

Image
The first article I chose to write over was the article How to Beat Procrastination . I thought this article was very helpful, and can used in my everyday life. The first thing I learned was that if you visualize how great it will be to get the assignment/task done, it will help you beat procrastination. I really liked this because if you just wait till the last minute to do everything, that assignment/task will just be hanging over your head until you complete it. It is nice to complete things early so you can enjoy the rest of the time doing whatever you want to do. I think my biggest time challenge will be getting assignments done during the week so I can enjoy the weekend. I do not currently have a time management strategy, but this article has helped. The second article I found interesting was the article The Myth of "Too Busy" . I also thought this article was very helpful on how to prioritize your time, instead of saying you are "too busy." I struggle with

Technology Tools

Image
While looking at all the different technology tools available to excel in this course, there were a few tools I did not know existed prior to this assignment. I have never used any sort of bookmark folders on my computer, but I feel like it is a good way to keep organized throughout the semester. I think the online environment for school is becoming the new normal. There are so many resources online, making it a little easier to adapt. In regards to this class, I do feel like there is a lot of work that goes into the course compared to other online courses, and it can be really easy to become distracted. There aren't any web skills I really want to work on right now, along not having any browser tips, but i'm I will by the end of the semester.                                                               Pixabay: Technology Icons

Overview of these Assignments

Image
While looking over all of the assignments we have this semester, the ones that I am most intrigued by are the storytelling ones. This is something that is so new to me, so I don't know exactly if it is going to be something that comes easy to me, or I am going to struggle with. Although it does spark some interest, I feel like there is a lot of thought that goes into these stories. This class is unlike any class I have ever taken at OU. I really like you are on your own time to finish these assignments, and the grade you get reflects if you did the assignment or not. It is a new way of grading, but I like that because you are in charge of what grade you can achieve in this class. I also really like that there are many extra credit options available. I think they are very beneficial to do if you are swamped with other class work and miss a few assignments. Pixabay: Class Assignments

Growth Mindset Discussion

Image
While watching the assigned videos over Carol Dweck, I thought It was very fascinating to see her views, and ideas over the growth mindset. In regards to watching the videos, I do feel like I see myself on the spectrum of growth mindset in my school work. Although I say that I have a growth mindset, that is not always the case on an every day basis. I still sometimes receive bad grades, or get frustrated over things because I don't know how to do them, but it is important to always challenge yourself because you don't want to be stuck in a fixed mindset. On the other hand, there are certain aspects of my life where I see myself on the spectrum of a fixed mindset. For example, I have always wanted to play the guitar, but have always become frustrated and annoyed that I am not as skilled as others. I give up instantly because I cannot surpass a certain note, or get annoyed when I can't do it because I wanted to be just as good as something that can actually play. Something

Introduction to a Future Advertiser

Image
Hello everyone! My name is Nicholas Kutcher, I am from Frisco, Texas, and  I will be graduating from the University of Oklahoma this spring. I am an Advertising major, and the coolest thing about my major is I get to advertise for local businesses, hoping to get their name out to the public. I think this is interesting because if there was no advertising, it would be harder for business owners to promote their own businesses. One of the best classes I took last semester was Advertising media. Although it was a tough class, I got to work in a group to come up with a campaign idea for a business. I enjoyed it because it was something I could learn from in the real world when I graduate. My favorite movies are Step Brothers, and Old school because they make me crack up every single time I watch them. One of my many dreams down the road is to advertise for any NFL team since I am a huge football fan. Since I live only 20 miles from Dallas, It would be cool to be able to partner with the

My Storybook Favorites

Image
The first storybook that I really enjoyed was Horror in India.  I thought it was incredibly creative, and brave to share such a unique story for all of us. This topic is something that is very new to me, so while reading it was easy to follow along, and understand everything that was going on. I think the introduction did a great job in making me want to read more, and see what comes next in these Indian horror stories. Lastly, I really liked the overall layout of this storybook. The images used backed up the flow of the storybook.         The second storybook that I really enjoyed was Epic Cooking . Although this topic is something that I am not already familiar with, I felt like I was intrigued from the very beginning due to the creativity. I think this storybook did a wonderful job of letting us know what this storybook was about from the very beginning, showing detailed images of how to make the certain dishes. I think the introduction was very well written, and is one of t

My Favorite Place, Playa Del Carmen

Image
My favorite place is Playa Del Carmen In Mexico. Our family usually visits at least once a year, and we always have a blast. I really enjoy being at the beach, even though I turn red instantly. The people at the resort are always very nice, and are always welcoming, and recommending different places for us to try, and activities for us to do. We didn't get to go last year due to COVID, but i'm hoping we are able to this year. (Personal Picture)
